Ear Infection Remedies For Your Home

Infections are something that people have had to deal with for hundreds of years and while today we have antibiotics that will help clear up infections, many years ago they did not and had to rely on their own natural remedies to treat infections.  Although these days we can go and get a prescription for some antibiotics, there are still many people that prefer to use home remedies whenever they can.  Of course you should still seek medication attention if needed, but home remedies certainly do have their place.

Ear infections are one of the most common types of infections in children and they can range from mild infections to very excruciating severe infections.  Here are some home remedies that can help to relieve the pain of earn infections.

Have you ever felt hopeless when your child has woken during the night, holding their ear and crying with pain?  The middle of the night certainly isn't the best time to go and see a doctor and unfortunately this is often when the pain of an ear infection starts.  It is these situations where home remedies can be very useful.

Home remedies usually won't cure an ear infection, unless it is a very mild ear infection.  However they will ease the pain and give the child some relief.  Using a home remedy during the night can help give relief for the child until you can visit a doctor in the morning.

Holding a hot water bottle over the sore ear can help to provide pain relief.  Strangely enough, some also swear by holding a bag of salt over the problem ear for relieving pain.

One herbal oil that is known to fight off infection is Tea Tree Oil.  This can be a great choice to help manage and cure the ear infection, however in some people it can irritate the skin and is not suitable. If your child can tolerate Tea Tree Oil on their skin then this can be very helpful.

There are other home remedies that work just as well but don't have the side effect that Tea Tree Oil has.  One such extract is Otikon which is made with a few different plant extracts.  The plant extracts used in Otikon produce an anesthetic property so it is a fantastic choice for pain relief.

There is another remedy that is sometimes told as a good method when in fact it is not, so this is one that you should be wary off and not use.  This remedy is called 'ear candling' and it is a process where a cone made out of wax-covered paper (this is the candle) is inserted into the ear.  It is then lit and this is supposed to draw out the infection.  This method does not work and in fact is quite dangerous and can cause more serious medical problems.  Please do not ever consider using this method as your poor child could end up with more problems than just an ear infection.

Ear infections if not treated can get much worse and lead to more serious problems.  If an infection is minor then home remedies may be enough to treat the infection, but usually you should just use home remedies as a temporary treatment to ease the pain until you can seek proper medical attention. Desktop Games To Relieve Stress

Stress was a useful response early in our human development, it would help us to run away or stay and fight. However, in the modern world, stress takes its toll on our bodies and minds. And today most of that stress seems to come from one source more than any other: the workplace. The demands, distractions and deadlines all add up and make things more difficult than they really should be. The good news is that there are plenty of ways to reduce that stress. One such way is by playing desktop games. They are a convenient way to relax a bit during your breaks, and can be played right at your desk.

The reason playing desktop games is so good at reducing stress is because they turn your mental focus away from whatever it is that's stressing you out. Games are also a wonderful way to pass the time with friends and family. Add technology to these basic ideas and the options for playing games are more diverse and accessible than ever before.

There are desktop games for virtually every taste. Some are made specifically to be played on the computer, such as Tower Defense, Online Paintball and Desktop Destroyer. These action packed games are all fun ways to help you get through an otherwise stressful day at work, or at home.

Perhaps you don't like to relieve stress by taking out your frustrations in  game, but prefer to engage in mental pursuits to calm yourself down. The good news is that there are no shortage of those types of games either. Crossword puzzles, Sudoku, solitaire, word games and many other mental games can also be found online. The real key is to reducing stress is to change what you are thinking about, and games demand more of your attention, giving you a chance to forget about things for a while.

While exercise isn't really a game, it is something you can do while you are sitting at your desk. This is also a good way to relieve stress. You need to make yourself take a break from things from time to time. Whether your desktop games involve venting your anger, challenging your mind, or moving around a bit; it's important to do something to get your stress under control.

Desktop games are a wonderful way to help relax and take your mind off of things. You don't have to go anywhere special, or dress into different clothes before you start to play. Letting stress build up can take a major toll on your health, and is responsible for any number of various medical problems. Playing games is fun, and it can also help to keep you healthy. Now if that isn't a good reason to play more often, then I don't know what is.
